the mind behind it all

Iā€™m Kayla, a creative with a passion for storytelling and an eye for visual aesthetics. In 2022 I graduated from the University of Missouri, where I earned my Bachelor's in Journalism with an emphasis in photojournalism and a minor in Textile and Apparel Management.

Growing up in a family of artists, I've always been surrounded by a culture of creativity that has deeply influenced my perspective. While my academic focus was on writing and photography, my interests extend far beyond. From graphic and website design to sewing, painting (even though I'm still honing my skills), and keeping up with the ever-evolving trends of fashion and beauty, I find joy in exploring various avenues of artistic expression. I thrive in collaborative environments, particularly when working with other creatives to bring a concept to life.

During my college years, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the field through roles such as a community staff reporter and photographer at the Columbia Missourian. I also gained magazine experience as a photojournalist intern at Kansas City Magazine for two summers. To further enhance my skills, I joined a student-run advertising agency, Relevant Youth (now Matchbook Marketing), where I developed creative direction skills that complemented my journalistic background.

In the past year, I decided to try out the world of marketing, where I worked as an account coordinator at a marketing agency in Saint Louis. This experience not only sharpened my skill set but also fueled my desire for new challenges and adventures.

I am now looking for my next creative adventure where I can channel my diverse skill set and passion for storytelling into new and exciting projects. Whether it's through captivating narratives, compelling visuals, or innovative designs, I am always eager to contribute my unique perspective to the ever-evolving landscape of creativity.
